Job purpose
The Warehouse Supervisor (2nd shift) is accountable for the effective organization, supervision and deployment of skilled employees as well as co-ordinate processes related to shipping/receiving and operational production support. This individual will work closely with our production superintendent and line coaches to streamline production transactions and satisfy all GMP requirements. Hours of work are generally from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with the expectation of flexibility as needed to support operational requirements.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
· Co-ordinate safe efficient delivery of materials to the production floor using Highliners WMS. (Warehouse management system).
· Co-ordinate off loading of inbound shipments when required
· Coaching, training, time management for dry storage evening shift hourly reports
· Set expectations and maintain processes that meet performance targets and GMP requirements. This will include close collaboration with evening shift superintendent, production line coaches, and warehouse Leads
· Ensure the daily/weekly warehouse schedule meets customer needs and is cost effective.
· Responsible for ensuring the safe keeping of inventory by establishing & monitoring shop floor processes that minimize product damage, ensures the warehouse meets inspection and audit standards.
· Play a key role in the delivery of required ingredients that fall outside of Highliner SOP’s
· Investigate and put corrective actions in place on issues related to inventory variances
· Ensure that proper food security practices are being followed.
· Carry out a monthly safety inspection of the Dry storage warehouse
· Ensure safe working conditions and safe work practices are being followed by employees.
· Ensure HLF policy and procedures are being followed
· Support company strategic goals by directing the crew and implementing changes and improvements.
· Work in alignment with the Warehouse operations manager to develop, deploy and sustain a safe efficient working environment. And play a key role in shift changeover communication.
Qualifications:
· Post secondary education is an asset.
· 3-5 years of warehouse coaching experience is an asset
· Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
· Computer systems: JD Edwards & or Enterprise 1, WMS (Korber), TMS (E2Open)
· Familiarity with an Advanced Warehouse Management System is an asset
· Ability to establish & meet productivity targets and report on results
· Ability to work both independently and as a team player
· Flexible shift hours as operational needs require.
· Willingness to learn and operate mobile lift equipment
Working conditions:
Office Environment: The noise level in the office work environment is moderately quiet.
Plant Environment: The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil and electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors.
Physical requirements/Allergens:
As part of this role, the employee will regularly engage in activities such as walking, sitting, speaking, listening, and reaching with hands and arms. They will frequently use their hands to handle, operate, and feel various objects, tools, or controls. On occasion, travel to off-site meetings may be required, which involves operating a motor vehicle.
To perform these duties effectively, the employee must have sufficient visual acuity to operate a vehicle, use a digital camera, and work with standard office and job-specific equipment. This includes the ability to see clearly at close range and to adjust focus as needed. Clear verbal communication and active listening skills are also essential for interacting with clients, colleagues, and vendors.
