The Demand Planner is responsible for creating, maintaining and communicating the demand plan at the item specific level taking into account historical data, seasonality, phase in/phase out, promotional activity and market trends.
The Demand Planner will work in collaboration with Product Management, Marketing, Purchasing and the Sales Team to incorporate the demand plan into a purchasing plan that will support a multi-location network.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare clean datasets comprising of both internal and external data.
- Document assumptions, promotions, and adjustments to forecasts using input from cross functional teams.
- Develop effective forecast models at sku level based on the latest sales trends and demand patterns while also factoring in extending import lead times.
- Develop multiple what-if scenarios that provide a full view around the confidence internal in the forecast.
- Propose and implement solutions to improve forecast accuracy as well as model tuning.
- Challenge assumptions in the demand plan when significant deviations occur.
- Evaluate forecast accuracy, bias, FVA, weeks of supply and in stock rates.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to create effective Supply Plans.
- Special Projects as required that incorporate a forecasting component.
Qualifications/ Skills
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of demand planning/forecasting experience
- Comfortable modeling time series outside of an established forecasting system.
- Strategic Thinkers – someone who looks at data a variety of ways to break down the demand drivers.
- Analytical Problem Solvers – someone who doesn’t see just a problem, but numerous solution alternatives.
- Advanced computer software skills (Excel, Pivot tables, Time Series Functions)
- Forecasting Certification (IBF) preferred but not required.
- Salary Range 65-80k
