Supply Chain Manager

Location: Washington, IA, 52353

Position Overview

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for both the strategic direction and daily execution of the company’s supply chain. This role ensures efficient purchasing, inventory management, vendor negotiations, and supply chain optimization to support operational needs while driving cost savings and long-term improvements. The Manager will serve as the key liaison between vendors, internal teams, and leadership, combining hands-on management of tactical activities with strategic projects that strengthen overall supply chain performance.

Essential Job Functions

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and improve supply chain methodologies and processes.
  • Develop and implement supply chain optimization initiatives, including vendor-managed inventory, part number consolidation, vendor consolidation, and long lead-time forecasting.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives with a target of $500,000 annual savings.
  • Negotiate and manage best-price contracts to maximize value and profitability.
  • Support R&D product launches by developing inventory management and supply strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering to consolidate purchased parts and reduce complexity.

Tactical Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee tactical purchasing, warehouse, and material handling staff.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through daily reporting, cycle counts, and transaction error analysis.
  • Track, research, and reconcile inventory discrepancies; implement corrective actions.
  • Manage purchase orders, vendor communications, returns, and delinquent orders.
  • Manage RMA/RGA returned items to ensure proper inventory balancing.
  • Monitor inventory levels, usage, and replenishment to support production.
  • Expedite materials as required and ensure accurate system receipt.
  • Serve as a point of contact for daily operational issues across all departments.

Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 7+ years of experience in Supply Chain or Procurement Management; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage both tactical operations and strategic supply chain projects.
  • Strong vendor negotiation skills and knowledge of contract management.
  • Experience in cost reduction, process optimization, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proficiency with databases, Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with figures.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills with ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong work ethic, customer service mindset, and safety orientation.
