Are you passionate about turning complex shipbuilding data into clear, actionable plans? As a Production Planner in Ship Repair, you’ll be at the heart of our operations—transforming engineering drawings, manuals, and technical data into comprehensive Job Packages that guide our Production teams to success.


In this front-line role, you’ll:

  • Own the planning process by creating Job Packages aligned with the Master Schedule, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Bridge the gap between planning and execution—working closely with Production to ensure timely delivery of materials and clear work instructions.
  • Drive productivity by leveraging your shipbuilding experience to anticipate challenges and streamline workflows.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally through active participation in project and production meetings, flagging critical work and supporting fixed-week planning.
  • Support strategic initiatives by reviewing bids and contributing to implementation planning for upcoming projects.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize contract documentation and drawings to understand work scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Create quality job packs that provide the necessary info to facilitate an efficient execution of work.
  • Ensure activity breakdown, sequence logic, and trade resource budgets for a given scope of work is accurately represented in P6 and is consistent with the schedule WBS.
  • Report on issues with material stock levels which do not align with the planning schedule and communicate discrepancies/required actions to the Scheduling Team Lead, Planning team, Project Manager, and Supply Chain Lead.
  • Provide trade specific support to the Planning and Production teams.
  • Maintain tracking spreadsheets to assist Production and the scheduling of work.


Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree; preferably in technical, engineering, or related discipline.
  • 2-5 years of Planning or trade work experience, preferably in a naval shipbuilding or repair environment.
  • Trade certificate, Red Seal is considered an asset.
  • Experience using Primavera P6, MS Excel, Aveva, or AutoCAD would be considered an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of naval repair methods considered an asset.
  • Lean/Six sigma White, Yellow, and Green Belts would be considered assets.
  • Ability to interpret trade related drawings.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
