Job Description:
We are seeking a diligent and execution-focused Production Planner to manage the creation and lifecycle of all internal work orders. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be the single point of control for translating our strategic production plan into the detailed daily and weekly schedules executed on the shop floor. This role is responsible for ensuring internal resources—including materials, labor, and machinery—are efficiently organized to meet production targets for both sub-assemblies and final product builds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work Order Creation & Release: Translate production requirements from the master production schedule into detailed, multi-level work orders within the company's ERP/MRP system. Sequence jobs to minimize setup time and maximize throughput.
- Internal Resource Allocation: Plan and schedule the use of all internal resources (e.g., machine time, labor hours) to optimize workflow and prevent production bottlenecks. Ensure proper routing and labor assignments in ERP system.
- Material Coordination: Monitor inventory of internally-produced components and raw materials to ensure availability for scheduled work orders. Coordinate with warehouse staff to stage materials for upcoming jobs. Plan work orders considering material availability and work center constraints.
- Schedule Management & Expediting: Proactively monitor the progress of work orders on the shop floor. Address and resolve internal roadblocks, such as unexpected capacity issues, to keep production on schedule. Adjust daily/weekly plans for priority changes.
- Data Integrity: Maintain meticulous accuracy of all work order data within the ERP/MRP system, including work centers, routings, and completion status. Set up and maintain operations and routing for all part numbers.
- Reporting: Generate regular reports on work order status, completion rates, and production performance against internal targets.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Production Planner, Production Coordinator, or Work Order Scheduler in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong practical understanding of production processes and the logical breakdown of a final product into sub-assemblies and individual work orders.
- Proficiency with ERP or MRP software (prefer SysPro), with specific experience in creating, releasing, and tracking internal work orders.
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal production teams.
- A hands-on, problem-solving mindset, comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor to resolve issues.
Benefits:
- Health/Dental/Vision Insurance
- Vacation Time
- Sick Time
- Life Insurance
- Long Term Disability
- ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan)
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
