The Production Planner will play a key role in supporting New Product Introductions (NPI) within a medical device manufacturing environment. This position ensures that production planning, raw material procurement, inventory control, and capacity allocation are aligned to enable a smooth transition from validation to full-scale production.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience: 2–5 years in strategic procurement and production planning within a Medical Device manufacturing environment, preferably supporting NPI.
- Proven experience in planning from raw material validation through to production launch.
- Strong understanding of capacity planning and resource allocation.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with SAP and Blue Yonder (or similar ERP/MRP systems).
- Working knowledge of inventory control, DMIAC, and lean manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, issue, and manage production schedules to ensure timely availability of materials and production resources.
- Support NPI by planning production lines and allocating capacity for validation and ramp-up phases.
- Closely monitor ("hypercare") the planning process throughout the new item ramp-up to ensure successful launch.
- Coordinate training and knowledge transfer to production personnel responsible for new product lines.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to support production while minimizing obsolescence or SOGL (Slow or Obsolete Goods and Logistics).
- Provide regular updates to management on production status, inventory levels, material availability, and potential risks or delays.
- Generate and manage work orders or purchase requests based on production schedules and material requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Inventory Control, Demand Planning, and Logistics.
- Support accurate inventory tracking and reporting using ERP/MRP systems.
- Apply DMAIC and other continuous improvement methodologies to improve supply chain performance.
