Description

We’re seeking a Procurement Specialist to play a pivotal role in aligning production priorities with procurement operations. This position ensures that urgent production requirements are seamlessly integrated into the day-to-day workflow of the procurement team, keeping communication clear, timelines on track, and stakeholders informed.



Responsibilities
  • Understand program milestones and develop plans to meet production material needs.
  • Communicate material risks and facilitate cross-departmental solutions.
  • Investigate emergent material requirements, including replacements and changes.
  • Represent Procurement in production-facing meetings and drive supply chain metrics.
  • Develop and manage onsite support schedules for subcontractor representatives.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with safety and security protocols.
  • Coordinate procurement support for major milestones (e.g., sea trials, mega block movements).
  • Lead internal meetings to ensure material KPIs and job issues are addressed.
  • Manage procurement activities related to warranty claims.
  • Enforce supplier warranties for part replacements and repairs.
  • Support new product introduction initiatives.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to enhance supply chain processes.


Qualifications
  • University degree or equivalent in a business discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in procurement, supply chain, production or engineering
  • SCMP, MCIPS or PMP considered an asset

 

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
