TRIUMF's Procurement department is looking to hire a Procurement Specialist to join their team.

The primary function of this position is to perform TRIUMF’s central procurement activities. They include vendor negotiations, contract review, supply chain compliance oversight, purchase order issuance, and inventory replenishment for central stores.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement procurement standards, methods, controls, and best practices across TRIUMF.
  • Conduct pricing negotiations with vendors.
  • Implement supply chain procedures to support TRIUMF’s Supply Chain Policy
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to meet new supply chain compliance requirements
  • Engage with suppliers to verify their qualifications
  • Examine the price, suitability, and availability of items or services
  • Research products
  • Compare specifications and reviewing alternatives to fulfill TRIUMF objectives
  • Issue purchase orders in accordance with TRIUMF’s supply chain policy and procedures.
  • Problem and complaint resolution
  • Advise and guide end-users in purchasing decisions

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • An understanding of the Supply Chain Management processes.
  • A broad, thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of central procurement.
  • Knowledge of supplier evaluation, qualification and relationship management processes.
  • Must be resourceful in meeting compliance challenges
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, comprehension, interpretation, grammatical, oral, and written communication skills are extremely important, as are planning and organizing.
  • Demonstrated experience working with ERP software used in managing core business processes for procurement – Workday knowledge is highly desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • Good numerical reasoning and aptitude for figures; accuracy; attention to detail; and the ability to multitask and deal with changing priorities.
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor university degree or equivalent.
  • A least 3 years of procurement, supply chain, or supplier relationship management experience.
  • CSCP / SCMP or equivalent supply chain certification is desirable.

Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada, either as a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or with a work permit valid for at least 18 months after the start date.

Salary: $82,195 CAD plus our comprehensive benefits plan
