HAMILTON KENT INC. is seeking a Distribution Center Manager for our Distribution Center in Etobicoke. 

Job Summary

The Distribution Center Manager (DCM) leads all aspects of the operations at the distribution center, monitors performance goals, and leads a skilled team.

 

The DCM is responsible for the overall performance of the Distribution Centers (DC’s) that they lead as well as ensuring that all Health, Safety and C-TPAT policies are followed. The DCM works alongside other departments to ensure that Hamilton Kent appropriately caters to the needs of our customers. The DCM will have responsibility for and ownership of an operating budget

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall Distribution Center Operations according to the existing safety, service, quality and C-TPAT standards defined by Hamilton Kent
  • Managing and implementing workbench software to ensure Timely Customer Delivery for all out-bound shipments and stock transfers within an SAP-EWM warehouse setting
  • Apply SAP Tools – Handling Unit management, Wave and RF capabilities to ensure efficiency of DC members is effective and efficient
  • Develop, promote, train and manage the different aspects of Health & Safety, as well as Human Resources for all DC operations and team members
  • Coordinate and mentor members of the DC group to foster team unity and improve efficiency in delivering timely and detailed customer service
  • Ensure proper training of all DC team members according to internal standards and provincial/state laws and regulations specific to our industry including monthly safety & employee meetings
  • Develop, implement and execute actions to support department KPIs, Goals & Objectives and related metrics & reports
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement principles to make operations more efficient while improving customer service through the implementation and execution of Lean Principles, Problem Solving, 5S Programs, Gemba Walks, etc
  • Manage and resolve customer complaints and corrective actions in partnership with Customer Service and Sales
  • Manage inventory accuracy programs through the use of RF technology and cycle counts including planning, managing and participating in the annual physical inventory
  • Assist in the development of the annual operating budget and monitor results monthly thereafter to address variances between budget and actual
  • Coordinate & manage repairs and purchases for the DC in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager and/or Site Maintenance Manager

Knowledge and Skills Requirement:

  • College or University Degree preferably in Operations/ Logistics Management or equivalent experience
  • Excellent experience with SAP
  • WHIMS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, First Aid Certifications, etc an asset
  • Leadership/mentoring skills, able to train and develop junior reports
  • Intermediate to Sophisticated Level Excel skills required
  • Experience in an RF environment
  • Experience working/managing in a unionized environment
