FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

WHAT WE OFFER
Full-time | Continuing | Saint John | On-Campus
Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:00 am - 4:30 pm | 40 hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional after hours work as needed.
- Some work performed outdoors.
- Required to be at various locations all over campus as well as at two UNB locations Uptown.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
Salary Range: $71,799 - $97,855 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Director of Maintenance and Operations, the Building Operations Manager manages the day-to-day operations of building maintenance, energy, and grounds activities to provide the Saint John Campus with an inviting, safe and sustainable environment which supports and enhances an inspiring experience in learning, living, working and research.
- Respond to inquiries and requests for service from internal university departments.
- Provide direct management and supervision to personnel involved in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Schedule, assign, review, and supervise the work of all employees within the technical side of the department.
- Provide direct special event setup and maintenance, oversee all maintenance and supplies contracts, evaluate staff performance, schedule staff workloads, ensure operational safety of staff, and provide technical advice/assistance.
- Participate in the development, recommendation and administration of policies, procedures and process in support of departmental operations.
- At times required to administer procurements and fiscal management activities associated with building and grounds maintenance activities.
- Responsible to plan, organize, maintain and manage the operations and reliability of the university facilities and general infrastructure systems.
- Establish and monitor preventative maintenance processes, programs and facility inspection processes for on-going review of maintenance work.
- Responsible for implementation and administering of the building automation systems to help conserve energy, provide direct safety code compliance and provide regular campus inspections while reviewing areas for damage and scheduling the associated work to correct these deficiencies.
- Responsible for scheduling after hours emergency response system along with trouble-shoots and responds to all after-hour issues regarding the operational aspects of the facilities at the Saint John campus.
- At times required to design, review and plan new construction and remodeling projects and does related work as required.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant area.
- Minimum seven years of related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Strengths
- Lean/Six Sigma training considered an asset along with CEFP or EFP designation in Facilities Management.
- Working knowledge of building construction, components and operating systems are essential.
- Considerable knowledge of applicable building, safety codes, standards, safety and fire prevention methods and standards are also essential.
- Ability to perform minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC maintenance is essential.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written); strong work initiative; results oriented; strong teamwork skills; client focused; conceptual and analytical ability; values people and developing others (adopting a supervisory style that values each staff member) and has strong organizational awareness.
- Ability to anticipate and deal with problems and issues in a persistent manner.
